Children's Ministry - Sri Lanka

New Boys Home in Valachenai

In 2006 we purchased 1 1/2 acres to build a new Boy's Home in Valachchenai. Currently we run Bethel Girl's Home and Bethel Boy's Home on adjoining properties about 10 minutes from this new site. The small house already on the property is being used to house our female Bible School students and also to hold lectures ( a rented house which we extensively renovated last year, which was to be the new home for our Bible School, was taken-over by rebels in January!)

A new 5 bedroom Home is nearing completion. When the Home is finished we will dig a new well and build a water tower to supply water to the houses plus enable us to plant some food gardens. Due to the shortage of tradesmen & materials caused by the tsunami and the ongoing difficulties associated with the civil war, work has been very slow but we hope to relocate our Boy's to this new location in the months ahead. In March 2007 we had 18 boys in our care but this new larger home will allow us to take in additional children.
