Ways You Can Help
"God isn't looking for people of great faith, but for individuals ready to follow Him." Hudson Taylor
1. MISSIONARY SUPPORT
Missionaries in foreign countries require financial support on a consistent basis, and this is essential if we are to maintain missionaries on the field. Support is not only for basic living expenses, but there are return airfares, visas, medical and other expenses that need to be factored in to missionary support.
2. NATIONAL WORKERS SUPPORT
There are many national workers who have a desire to reach out to their own people with the Gospel. A few dollars a month can make a substantial difference to their effective ministry. By being a financial partner you can release national pioneer pastors and Bible College graduates into the Lord’s work.
3. FUNDRAISING
Are you a creative “ideas” person who could raise funds for missions? Maybe you could mobilise others in your church to raise funds for personnel or projects. If you have some good ideas on fundraising for missions, share them with us so that we can help others who are looking for new initiatives.
4. MISSIONARY CARE
When missionaries are home on leave, you can assist by providing hospitality, accommodation, use of a vehicle etc. Furlough can be an expensive and busy time for missionaries, and your help would be greatly appreciated. It is a great way to meet missionaries and to bless them, and at the same time have your own vision for the world expanded.
5. USE YOUR SKILLS
You may be a professional or skilled person who could make a valuable practical contribution to missions. Doctors, dentists, accountants, teachers , tradesman etc. could offer assistance free or at a reduced rate for missionaries.
6. PRAYER
Strategic, informed prayer is the key to seeing breakthroughs on the mission fields. Perhaps you can co-ordinate an Intercessory Prayer Group specifically for World Missions.
7. PRIORITY PROJECTS
There are a number of endorsed CRC projects, all in need of financial assistance. You could contribute towards large or smaller project such as buildings, orphanage work, printing of Bible School notes, feeding programs, or medical supplies in many needy areas.
8. MERCY MINISTRIES
Practical skills and medical personnel are required from time to time at relatively short notice to serve in humanitarian aid projects. Contact the Missions Office and you will be notified as the needs arise to seek your availability. These projects are usually for about 3 weeks.
9. SHORT TERM TEAM VISITS
A visit to a mission field is a great way to expand your vision and personal experience cross-culturally. Each year many teams make 2- 3 week visits to mission fields.
10. HELPING HANDS
Everyone can be involved in missions. There are people who can knit jumpers, collect stamps for missions, sew, write to missionaries, supply teaching and craft materials for children’s ministry etc.
11. UNDESIGNATED SUPPORT FOR THE MISSIONS
Most missions funds we receive are designated for particular projects. But there are costs associated with the administration of CRC Missions program- office expenses, special needs and unforeseen emergencies have to be met. You may be able to offset some of these costs by donating funds to general missions support. These funds are allocated at the discretion of the Missions Director.
12. INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SPONSORSHIP PROGRAMME (ISSP)
This is a great way to impact another nation with the Gospel without leaving home. Each year students from developing countries desire to enroll for ministry training at Bethel Bible College, Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea. Sponsorship will assist in covering costs - fares, training, accommodation, medical, visas etc.
13. NATIONAL BIBLE SCHOOLS
The release of national workers and missionaries is largely dependent upon our training and discipleship programs in Bible Schools. Support is needed for staff and students.
14. READ, STUDY MISSIONS
Reading about missionaries and their work will inspire, challenge and motivate you. There are some excellent videos and study courses available including Perspectives on the World Christian Movement. We can also recommend study materials for home fellowships, youth groups and Sunday Schools.
15. ENROL IN THE CRC PULSE MISSIONS SCHOOL
Held in January each year. Learn about different aspects of missions – biblical basis, history, the “how to’s” of missions in the local church, being a missionary, sending and supporting, praying etc.
16. PUBLIC SCHOOL FEES
Each year many of our overseas leaders who are on modest financial support have to meet rising costs of schooling for their children.
We have established a special fund to help them meet the school fees.
17. MISSIONS OFFICE VOLUNTEERS
Computer skills, typing, designing brochures, collating and sorting display materials etc.
